Prime Minister Bruce Golding has declared that Jamaica will go to a state of emergency due to recent violent incidents on the Island. This will mark a “turning point” for the country.

The state of emergency was declared  in two parishes of Kingston after police stations were  firebombed  and shot at by suspected supporters of an alleged drug lord who faces extradition order to the United States.

“Let us make no mistake, the threats that have emerged to the safety and security of our people, will be repelled with strong and decisive action.

The state of emergency will remain in effect for a period of one month.
